Common Issues & Fixes
Factory Reverse Camera Not Triggering
If the factory reverse camera is not triggering after installing your VHEDIA head unit in a Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series (VX, GXL, GX, and Altitude), follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
Check the 5-pin Plug (Factory Reverse Camera Trigger)
Locate the 5-pin plug on the head unit's main harness.
This plug contains orange and black wires and is responsible for the factory reverse camera trigger.
Ensure that this plug is properly and securely connected to the corresponding plug from the vehicle. A loose or incomplete connection can prevent the reverse camera from activating.
Refer to the photo below for visual guidance.

Verify the 4-pin Plug (Factory Reverse Camera Power Feed)
Locate the 4-pin plug on the head unit's main harness.
This plug connects to the factory plug from the vehicle to provide power to the factory reverse camera.
Ensure the 4-pin plug is securely connected to the vehicle's factory plug.
Refer to the installation video below for a detailed guide on locating and connecting this plug. (Starts at 8:40 seconds)
Reverse Camera Trigger
If your Toyota Land Cruiser GX 200 Series does not have a factory reverse camera and you are installing our VHEDIA reverse camera, you may need to make a manual connection for the reverse camera trigger.
Checking the Reverse Camera Plug
Locate the 5-pin plug on the head unit’s main harness. This is typically used for the reverse camera trigger.
This plug should contain orange and black wire.
What to Do If You Do Not Have a Matching Plug
If your vehicle does not have a corresponding plug to connect to the 5-pin reverse camera plug, follow these steps:
1. Cut the Wire
Carefully cut off the orange and black wire from the 5-pin connector/plug.

2. Manually Connect the Wires
Take the orange and black wire and connect it to the reverse trigger wire (usually a loose wire attached to the RCA cable of the reverse camera).

3. Secure the Connection
Use electrical tape or heat shrink tubing to secure the wiring and prevent any loose connections.
Final Checks
Test the reverse camera by putting the vehicle in reverse gear.
If the screen does not switch to the camera feed, double-check the connections.
If the issue persists, contact VHEDIA Support for further assistance.
Poor Radio Signal
If you are experiencing poor radio signal with the VHEDIA head unit suitable for Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series (2008–2012) VX, GXL, GX, and Altitude models, the issue may be related to the connection of the factory standard radio antenna. Follow these steps to resolve the problem:
1. Check the Factory Antenna Connection:
In some Toyota LandCruiser models, the blue wire typically used for the radio antenna signal may not be present on the antenna port.
Instead, the antenna signal wire is routed through the factory main plug as a pink wire.

2. Locate the AMP COM Connector:
Follow the pink wire from the main harness of the VHEDIA head unit.
This wire is labelled as AMP COM and is connected via an SM connector. (Starts at 7:20 seconds)
3. Ensure Proper Connection:
Verify that the AMP COM connector is securely plugged in.
Refer to the attached photo for guidance (see the circled areas in the image for the correct connector locations).

4. Test the Radio Signal:
After ensuring the connection is secure, test the radio signal to confirm if the issue has been resolved.
Additional Notes:
If the issue persists after verifying the connection, check for any damage or loose wires in the harness.
Ensure the antenna itself is in good condition and properly mounted.
Check Engine Light Issue
If you ever get a check engine light on after installing the head unit, please disconnect the wires shown on the image below. The error will be a speed sensor wire and once these wires have been cut, you should not have any issues and light will clear itself and cruise control will work again.

Understanding Patch Cables
In this guide, we take a closer look at patch cables in the Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series and how they affect head unit installations. If you run into issues with reverse triggers, steering wheel controls, and AM/FM reception — and often the solution comes down to removing or adjusting patch cables.
What You’ll Learn:
What patch cables are and how to identify them
Why some factory patch cables need to be unplugged
How reverse trigger & steering wheel control signals run through patch cables
